Abandoned Buildings Part I

There are two places that I have visited recently, The Greggs Factory and The Lead Works. I have also visited a factory in North Shields which was my first abandoned building. My friend and I went on the 27th September 2014, this was the start of my excitement of urbex exploring.

The ground floor is easily accessible  but the stairs to next floors have been removed. We  decided to stay on the ground floor but we still found enough things to explore and take photographs.

On the 8th November 2014 I visited the Greggs factory for the first time and have been  quite a few times since. The Greggs factory was  more exciting to explore because of its size and it is still in pretty good condition compared to the building North Shields. You can access basically everything including, the roof, stairs and all floors.  Every time I visit I always try to find something new. There is a lot of light in some areas but would still advise bringing a torch for some parts of the factory. In certain parts of the factory it is very interesting to stop and think and remember this was someones working life and  we found shoes that are left  by someone.

My first photo idea was to have a boy standing in the darkness with a balloon, we didn't have helium in the balloon so it took us a few shots to get the perfect one in the air.

Up stairs is very different to the ground floor. The first floor mainly has offices and rooms for the workers including showers, lockers and toilets.

When I came back to the Greggs factory on 11th January 2015, we decided to explore more and find some new rooms.

There is another huge space through a small corridor with lots of little rooms at the side. This is when we went and found a room full of butterfly wings on the floor.

On the same day we got on the metro to Newcastle and walked to the Metro Radio Arena, where the Lead factory is. There is a basement which is pitch black so would advise you bring a torch, a ground floor and apparently you can get on the roof but we didn't. There are lots of different rooms to explore at the lead factory but out of all the buildings in this blog the lead factory was the most damaged; apart from the basement which is in good condition.
